ArtCeleration – Clare | South Shore | Cape Breton

The newest rural ArtPreneurs presented at three “ArtCeleration” events, publicly launching their new businesses May 5th in Clare, May 7th in Bridgewater and May 12th in Sydney of 2015.

ArtPreneurs launched in rural Nova Scotia in 2015, supporting 30+ youth ages 16-25 with creative talents to learn the skills, develop the networks and access the opportunities to create and grow creative businesses based on their talents.

Youth Art Connection (YAC) is a Nova Scotia-based organization working to help youth thrive through the arts. In 2014 YAC launched its ArtPreneurs program in response to Ray Ivany’s call for activities to increase entrepreneurship and youth employment, and to do this with diverse communities.

With program graduates like Michael Earle, aka “Maje”, who recently brought home a $10,000 prize for winning Music Nova Scotia’s “Viola Desmond Songwriting Contest”; newly arrived Columbian/Canadian Felipe Bonilla, a 16 year old artist who made thousands selling his drawings and paintings last year; and digital artist Paige Cameron, who in 2014 was a top earner for one of the largest video game companies in the world, YAC is optimistic about the impact ArtPreneurs can have for young Nova Scotians, and our province’s creative economy.

YAC gratefully acknowledges the support and partnership of the following organizations,
who have made ArtPreneurs in rural Nova Scotia possible:
