We are inviting Nova Scotian youth (under 30) to make zines themed on one of the four pillar issues that the Justice, Art & Youth in Action (JAYA) Team are currently creating conversations about across Nova Scotia. The content of your zine will be included in drafting the upcoming 3-year Action Plan, and will also be displayed and distributed at JAYA events. Any zine submitted is submitted with the understanding that it will be used, and potentially distributed, by and for the Justice, Art & Youth in Action Initiative.

The Justice, Art and Youth in Action Initiative is seeking partners across Nova Scotia, who can collaborate supporting artists under 30 to make change, and tell the stories that need to heard about justice issues in Nova Scotia. The project’s three lead partners (The Michaëlle Jean Foundation, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Youth Art connection) are working to raise funds to support young artists through the project and are seeking opportunities to collaborate in the roll-out of the project.

For more information about the project see: www.youthartconnection.ca/justice

We are looking for partners with connections to communities and youth across Nova Scotia, and with expertise in the issues connected to the project’s ‘Justice Pillars’, to partner in various ways including meeting in person/onlinethe project’s core team once a month, attend and promote the monthly peace forums from January-April, and help us reach as many Nova Scotians as possible in creating the action plan. As more project details emerge we are excited to find more ways to collaborate with Nova Scotia’s rich tapestry of communites and organizations to find other creative ways to collaborate to make change in Nova Scotia through the power of the arts.

If you would like to join our growing list of partners, please write info@youthartconnection.ca and we will be in touch to connect you to emerging activities and opportunities to partner. We are hiring a team to help roll out the project, and will get back to you by December 19th once the team is hired and oriented.

For more information about the project or what partnering may look like, please contact YAC Co-founder Ryan Veltmeyer at 902-579-4673 or ryan@youthartconnection.ca
