HUBHFX was launched in the fall of 2017 after high demand from alumni from the various YAC workshops events for an ongoing space to continue connecting and growing art practices and businesses.

With no clear spot in halifax for all sorts of young creatives to support each other and connect with coaches and mentors, YAC stepped up and helped fill in the gap.

It aims to provide consistent, weekly, free programming and space for young artists to connect with each other, meet professionals from the creative and business sector, explore collaborative projects, connect to tons of outside opportunities like grants, festivals, higher education, and development opportunities, and of course create and have fun.

YAC plans to grow HUBHFX by offering programming more than once a week.

YAC is aiming to centre HUBHFX as a core program in our future home at the Culture Link in Downtown Halifax. Growing a safe, engaging and exciting space directly connected to other major culture industry players, and linked into the creative entrepreneurship centre will increase members’ capacity to integrate their activity, passion and experience in to Halifax’s and Nova Scotia’s arts and culture industries and creative economy.

While there are plenty of structured growing and connecting opportunities, the emphasis is on creating a welcoming and safe space for artists from all backgrounds.
