Online Artist Market

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

On May 30th, from 6-8PM, the newest round of TD ARTpreneurs will present their creative services and products in an online market.

The artists will present this special online event live through YAC’s Facebook Live and YouTube Live channels, and it is free for everyone to attend.

The TD ARTpreneurs program supports artists from a wide range of disciplines including theatre, music, photography, painting, digital art, craft and more. The program introduces talented youth and emerging artists to basic business skills, and supports them to develop a creative product or service that they can start making money from by the end of the program. This round has been lead by musician Shevy Price and visual artist Bailee Higgins and is sponsored by TD Bank.

“COVID-19 forced us to change the program, which used to be run in communities throughout Nova Scotia,” says facilitator Bailee Higgins, “This cohort is an amazingly talented and diverse group located in Halifax, Cape Breton, Wolfville, New Glasgow and other parts of Nova Scotia. Even though we miss being in person, now we have a chance for artists located across the whole province to meet, connect, and work together in the online program”.

The artists will present their work and creative services at the event, and the audience is encouraged to invest in these local creatives by attending and buying their services and products. Everything will be presented and sold online, and there will be plenty of time to hear from the audience through Facebook and YouTube chats as well.

About the Authour:

Philosopher Lissa Skitolsky is the Simon and Riva Spatz Visiting Chair in Jewish Studies for the 2020-2021 year and is being hosted by the Department of Philosophy for the duration of her time at Dalhousie.

The Simon and Riva Spatz Visiting Chair in Jewish Studies is intended to bring distinguished scholars from around the globe to share their expertise and perspectives with students and faculty at Dalhousie University and members of the broader Halifax community. The chair maintains a focus on contemporary topics but is otherwise broadly inclusive of scholars from a wide variety of arts, humanities, and social science backgrounds.

Before Dr. Skitolsky was promoted to as associate professor of philosophy at Susquehanna University, she worked as an assistant professor of philosophy at Luther College and as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Memphis. Her research in the fields of genocide studies and Continental philosophy has focused on illustrating the connection between discourse and sensibility in the normalization of state-sanctioned, systemic violence against racialized and gendered groups.
